Simple Recipes for Homemade Facial Masques

A natural beauty regimen can help reduce unsightly blemishes and visible signs of ageing, while leaving your face invigorated, smooth, and healthy! The best part is you don’t need to spend a ton of money to pamper your skin. Here are two all-natural recipes for homemade hydrating facial masques.

Lemon Juice & Honey Face Mask

Ingredients:
1/2 organic lemon, juiced
2 Tbsp Manuka honey

Directions:
Mix ingredients together in a bowl until it becomes an even liquid. Apply the mixture over your cleansed face, avoiding the eye area. Keep your hair pulled away from your face, as this mask can get pretty sticky. Leave on for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.

The Benefits

Lemon: A natural source of Alpha-Hydroxy Acids and Beta Hydroxy Acids, lemon works to exfoliate skin, remove dead skin cells, and brighten your complexion. Lemons contain citric acid, which helps cleanse the skin, while balancing pH levels to reduce the appearance of common blemishes including pimples and blackheads.

Honey: Packed with antioxidants, anti-bacterial, and antifungal compounds, honey is a great facial cleanser because it helps maintain your natural moisture, while also removing blemish-causing bacteria.

Avocado & Apple Cider Vinegar Face Mask

Ingredients:
1 avocado
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 egg white
3 tsp grapeseed oil

Directions:
In a medium-sized bowl, mash the meat of the avocado with a fork. In another bowl, beat the egg white until soft peaks form. Pour the apple cider vinegar, beaten egg white, and grapeseed oil into the bowl with the mashed avocado. Mix all ingredients with a hand-held mixer on high until it is smooth. Apply the mixture over your cleansed face, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 20-25 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.

The Benefits

Avocado: avocado is loaded with vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids that naturally help keep skin cells supple, hydrated, and protected from free radicals. Avocado also contains a unique compound called sterolins, which is known to boost collagen to further reduce visible signs of ageing and boost skin’s elasticity.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is potent with antibacterial benefits, which makes it a perfect all-natural cleanser. Containing alpha-hydroxy acids and an array of amino acids, apple cider vinegar gently exfoliates skin, relieves dry skin, promotes skin cell renewal, and brightens your complexion.
