Summer is a welcomed season, with camping, grilling and trips to the beach but painful sunburns and annoying bug bites can put a damper on your fun. If you can’t make it to the pharmacy or you just like to know what you’re putting on your skin, try these natural remedies that can found right in your kitchen.
If you haven’t managed to avoid sunburn by using sunscreen or protective clothing, there are several home remedies you can use to relieve the pain. Aloe Vera gel and apple cider vinegar are the most common but you can also use egg whites to soothe your burn. Separate the yolk from the white and rub the egg white over your burn. Allow to dry completely. For lasting relief, leave it on overnight. You can reapply as often as you’d like.
Bug bites are sometimes impossible to avoid, even with bug repellent. If you happen to end up with a bite (or several), try using the inside skin of a banana peel to stop the itch. Just peel the skin off a banana, rub it onto the affected area and allow to dry. You can save the peel in the fridge or freezer to use again later.
